One, two, three, four. Welcome to Synergy, the podcast where we uncover the secrets to successful relationships, effective leadership and transformative parenting. I'm your host, Alicia.
Speaker 2:And I'm Dan, and we'll deep dive into relationships, friendships and, most importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves. Together, we'll explore different strategies, techniques and approaches that can help you achieve synergy in every aspect of your life.
Speaker 1:Stay curious, keep learning and embrace the power of synergy.
Speaker 3:We are away in Queensland this weekend just a really quick one for one of our mates birthdays and we got a question that got asked to us which found we found really curious and we want to explore that a little bit and maybe shine some light on a different view on aeroplanes and traveling yeah.
Speaker 4:So I had this. I had this epiphany about travel and aeroplanes and, and I think, for most of my upbringing, when you think of an aeroplane, you associate it with a holiday. So anyone that is going on an aeroplane is going on a holiday, and I think in society for the most part, that is true and that association's made. But I think the reframe is when you start thinking as an aeroplane like getting an Uber, because that's what it is, it's a, a means of transport. Your world opens up and you start thinking of things that destinations and experiences you can have more often and you don't need to allocate large blocks of time to go and do something like, for instance, just a weekend away.
Speaker 3:Yes, you can jump on a plane, go somewhere, have an experience and come straight back yeah, it doesn't need to be limited to like a even a you know, a date night or a date weekend doesn't need to be limited to your current state.
Speaker 4:It can be anywhere yeah, and it just makes me think because obviously just checking in luggage and things like that, it's like how many experiences do you have with cabin baggage that you just run off and off, on and off the plane and go and have your experiences and come back and then how many experiences do you have where you have check baggage, where it's an extended period of time that you're doing something for?
Speaker 3:and I think the minute you make this shift in your life about labeling what things were in your childhood and changing them for what suits you is, your world opens up yeah, and I think, as a family, what we try to do as much as possible is we do our best in putting aside what we've always known and creating a life that works for us and that we're designing basically. Would you agree?
Speaker 4:Yeah, definitely. I think there's so many elements about how things are done and repeating habitual patterns that when you stop and think and question and try something different is where you really get to explore other elements of life and create. You know you exchange old habits and patterns for much better ones.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and I think specifically with families, because I know, since we've had so in terms of experiences, I know, since we've had two kids, well, where, even when we had nikita, a lot of people were like, oh, your life's going to change so much and this, this and that. And one of the main things for us and we had this conversation, was that we wanted to go out to dinners and we wanted to continue to do that and we wanted to keep flying and traveling as much as we are, and I think we get a lot. Oh, you guys are never in the same Like, do you do? You guys feel like you're never home?
Speaker 4:You're always on holidays, Like that's the frequent thing that I hear. And yeah, it's just that you know. Maybe next time, instead of jumping on your app and ordering an uber, jump online and book a flight and go somewhere and especially in terms of, like, something really powerful that we've done.
Speaker 3:Uh, two weeks ago was we planned out our entire year and we made space once a month because that was what we we wanted to do as a family once a month. Just one weekend we were going to go do something as a family. So I'm just spitballing here. I want to go to Tasmania. We actually went in an Uber ride last night and this guy was telling us about Tasmania and how amazing Tasmania is and we've wanted to go there for a while.
Speaker 3:So, when we get home. I'm going to book some Tasmania travel with the family so that we can go and experience that all together.
Speaker 4:So next time you're wondering what to do and a little bit feeling a bit spontaneous and want to switch things up, try it. I encourage you to do something different and let us know how your experience is. See you next week.
